Big Haul

Perhaps it is my eagerness for Spring to arrive,
or maybe it's just all the great collections that have been coming out,
but I've gone a little polish crazy this month.
Here's another group of polishes to finish out the month with.

The first 2 are from ULTA.
This muted magenta with gold shimmer was in the clearance bin
and have no name tag on it, bummer.
( just found out the name is "Always A Bridesmaid")
But I grabbed it just the same as the color is really unique and pretty.
The application was flawless in one coat, but I gave it two for good measure.
The 2nd ULTA color is called Limelight.
A Classic Spring Green cream, again, the application was wonderful.
The swatch is with 2 coats.
Then I picked up 2 Art Club's striper's, ironically in the same shades,
though these are neon versions.
Mod Pink & Go Green.
They are both quite sheer, as most neon's are,
and I had to go over the swipes twice to show their true color.

~*~

(from left to right)

Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in Mystic Lilac
Petite's Color Fever in Candy Green
Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure in Golden Ticket
Mystic Lilac applied quite sheer and needed 4 coats
to come to it's full potential.
This oh so popular dusty mauve/lavender color has a twist,
it has green reflective shimmer and
that is the main reason why I picked it up.
While I'm disappointed in the multiple layers, t
he final result is quite striking.

Candy Green had a similar result.
It took 3 coats to get some opaqueness out of it and
the blue shimmer is a bit more
understated than I would have liked.
Still, it is a very pretty Green, and I'm always a sucker for Green.
Golden Ticket I picked up for one reason, then name.
(I'm a BIG Willy Wonka fan)
But I was pleasantly surprised by not only the density of the glitter, but just the color itself. And these golden/copper colors work well throughout every season, bonus.
~*~

Love & Beauty, from Forever21

Jade is a green-based Turquoise with a hint of blue shimmer.
Its both striking in the bottle and swatched.
Great application with just 1coat.
Brown is just that, a classic chocolate Brown cream.
Again, the application was fantastic with 1 coat,
but I gave it 2 just for good measure.
Yummy

~*~

Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure in All Fired Up.
This orange-based fire engine Red definitely appeals to the pin-up girl in me, This screams classic retro.
A single, flawless coat was all it took, and I'm in love.

ORLY's Lunar Eclipse
I don't know why I overlooked this color when
it was first released with the Cosmic Collection,
but after having a second glance,
this bottle asked to come home with me & I'm sure glad I listened.

It took 3 coats to get the love out of the bottle, but it was well worth it,
and when the light hits this color, it's just stunning.

*~*

KISS Nail Paint- Nail art Stripers
Lavender, Aqua, & Hot Pink
These 3 came together in a set and all are opaque creams.

Brucci in Black Emerald

I had posted a fast pic on Facebook when I first grabbed
this because I was so taken with it's uniqueness.
And I said it there, and I'll say it again,
that I personally think that Brucci is one of the most
overlooked polish brands to date.
The prices are always reasonable, they have a fantastic
selection of colors and the application of most, is fantastic.

I know this color came out last Spring,
but I didn't take notice of it till, it was requested by Karolina,
aka ohfaciq
my YouTube friend that I have been doing Swaps with.
She requested this color, so I picked it up,
only to realize that this was a real gem.
Needless to say, I grabbed one for myself too.

At first glance, it is a Blackened Brown, but when the light hits it,
this AMAZING rich green pops out.
WOW, Black Emerald indeed.
Gorgeous.
Great finish with 2 coats.

 (from left to right)

KleanColor in Jazz Olive
KleanColor in Neon Aqua
Essie in Bermuda Shorts
KleanColor in Starry Purple
KleanColor in Starry Blue
KleanColor in Fuschia Glitter

 Oh yeah!
I am SO ready for Spring with these colors,
just staring at them cheers me up and makes me
forget about the foot of snow we just got slammed with.

Jazz Olive is a shimmery cross between a Spring Green and Olive shade.
1 coat did it with a great application, but as usual,
I gave it 2 coats.
This is a beauty.
Neon Aqua
Not a neon shade but still, a bright Aqua cream.
Another color that makes me smile & think of
breathing in warm ocean air.
2 coats, flawless application.

Essie's Bermuda Shorts came out ages ago
with their Neon Collection.
This is one of those colors, that always seems to catch your eye,
but for one reason or another you think..
hmmm ok, maybe I'll get you next time.
So, finally after endlessly eyeing it, I just decided to get it.
I'm glad I did, another great Spring/Summer shade.
A little streaky, but nothing 2 coats wouldn't fix.

Fuschia Glitter - Pink Jelly with large Pink hexagons & smaller holo glitters
Starry Blue - Clear jelly with Blue & Silver hexagon glitter
Starry Purple - Clear jelly with purple hexagon glitters

I seem to be on a glitter kick and really into layering as of late.
These work fantastic with the KleanColor shades.

~*~

Milani Jewel FX in Gold
This is a clear jelly loaded with Gold hexagon glitter, 2 coats
Milani One Coat Glitter in Silver Dazzle -
This is indeed a one-coater, with a nice charcoal gray glitter

~*~

720 3D Nail Art Bows (60 of each color)
These are so cute and I can't wait to try them out

I purchased these from E-Bay.

Hello Kitty Stamping Plate I also purchased from E-Bay.

I've been awarded a Stylish Blogger Award!

The lovely Renee from You Nailed It
and also sweet Jocy from Lacquer Obsession
have awarded me with the Stylish Blogger Award!

So the rules for this award are:
Thank and link the person who gave you the award.
Write 7 random facts about you.
Give this award to 15 other Bloggers and notify them about it!

Oh boy, this is gonna be interesting LOL

# 1 - I'm completely obsessed with Vampires.
WAY BEFORE anyone ever knew what the hell Twilight was.

# 2 - I'm obsessed with Twilight LOL
But in my defense, I love Twilight because of the love story behind it,
NOT cause of the vampires.
Because let's face it,
even the biggest Twilighters can say,
Stephenie Meyer's vampires are pretty lame.
Sorry Edward, you know I still love you.

#3 - I'm a romance book junkie.
When I've got the time, I'll go through a book a day
& mostly every romance book I've read,
has pertained so some sort of supernatural,
whether it be vampires,
werewolves,
or Gods & Goddesses, you name it.
If you'd like recommendations, I've got plenty.
YAY SMUT!

#4 - My YouTube channel, it's content and
popular following was a complete fluke.
I wanted to show a GF of mine the Twilight design
that I was planning on wearing for the premiere,
posted it on YT, and the next thing I knew, I had subscribers.
I was already doing my nails so why not share it with everyone?
So I just continued with the tutorials and
I've been loving every moment since.

#5 - I've been doing nail tutorials for about 1 1/2 yrs.
but I've actually been creating my own looks and designs for
probably close to 20 years.

#6 - I'm a MASSIVE horror buff.
If it's scary, creepy or gross, I'll watch it

# 7 - When I was in middle school, I begged,
and pleaded with my mother for AGES
if I could legally change my last name to match hers.
Needless to say, my father wasn't thrilled with my idea.
My mother's last name is Sinatra, need I say more?

Ok, let's see my 15 Bloggers are

http://www.scrangie.com/
(Do I really need to tell you why? If you don't follow Scrangie, then you aren't a true polish lover)

( Because she is the queen of marbling, seriously, no one does it better than her)

( Because she is really up to date when it comes to swatching new collections)

( Because ANY info you want & need on drug store goodies, she has got)

(Because she does some of THE most amazing Konad layering I've ever seen!)

( the first nail blogger I ever followed, and I adore her blog still to this day)

(Because not only is one of my besties, she also does some of the finest painting I've ever seen)

( Because she has a variety of designs, including hand work & Konad, and she is just a great all-around blogger)

(Because you don't know the true meaning of nail art, till you see her blog. I worship at your feet Melissa.....ok, that just sounds creepy, but seriously I love her work)

(Because her blog name is an EPIC WIN & I enjoy her challenges)

(Because she not only does some INCREDIBLE  swatching, but she is also funny as hell)

(Because her talent completely blows me away)

(Because you will never look at garage sale stuff the same way again)

(Because she has an amazing archive of polish swatches & always has the latest collections)

(Because I absolutely love her style & she's got some kick-ass Konad looks)

I will most likely NOT get a chance to notify
all these great bloggers,
so if you follow them,
if you are friends with them pass along the great news that
they've been awarded the Stylish Blogger Award!

If you don't follow these fantastic bloggers already,
then you are seriously missing out.
You won't regret following ANY of them!
Though maybe your wallet will. hehe

Mint/Tiffany Blue Comparison, featuring Justin Bieber's "My Lifesaver"

So I've started my quest early,
as I'm on the hunt for the 8-pan shadow palettes from Wet n Wild.

I've got a local Harmon drug store that is
always spot on when it comes to new releases,
they are either exactly on schedule, or sometimes even early,
so I decided to have a peek.

Alas, I didn't find them, but they did have the new
The Justin Bieber inspired collection from Nicole by OPI

Bieber fever over here?
Umm, no, not in a million years, but I did have a peek
at the collection, and one color stood out to me.

My Lifesaver
Though I couldn't resist picking it up,
I couldn't help but feel that maybe I have this color,
or at least something very close.

So now that I've got it home, and I've had a chance
to see what is in my collection,
let's do a side by side comparison.

Starting from the left

Essie -  Mint Green Apple
Orly -  Gumdrop
China Glaze -  For Audrey
Nicole by OPI - Justin Bieber's My Lifesaver
H & M - Bella's Choice

( different angle, and slightly different lighting )

Starting with Essie's Mint Green Apple
they are all the same shade, each one just mildly
darker than the previous,
UNTIL
you get to My Lifesaver
All colors are blue base, while this one is green based.
I'm thrilled that I got this, it is such a classic 1950's mint green
it reminds me of MAC's Peppermint Patty
and I really wish I had it to compare to MyLifesaver
The application is fantastic as with most Nicole polishes.
the polish is smooth and dense,
and I could have left it with a single coat,
but out of habit, gave it two.
These polishes now have the same flat brush that
Sally Hansen's newer polishes carry.

None of the other colors impressed me,
but I'm sure that Bieber fans will gobble these
up regardless of the color.
I'm glad I snagged this one before they are all gone.

Have a great weekend everyone!!
xoxo ~ Dolly

Lisa Frank Inspired Series

So for everyone here, this is technically my 2nd inspired look.
For the followers on YT, it is my first.
I've done a total of 4 looks, but I have to say....I'd like to do more!

These are so fun, and so bright,
not only does it make you think of
but it also makes you think of Spring & Summer!
And while being buried under yet another foot of snow, I can't think of anything better to do right now, than dream of warmer days!
So this is a classic Lisa Frank rainbow,
with Barry M. famed crackle polish on top.
This little bottle of love is my new bestie!

Pretty much the entire collection inspired this look,
as there is always a rainbow of some form in her pictures,
but mostly my inspiration came from Markie.

Yes, I know his name,
because he was always my favorite growing up.
what can I say, I've got a thing for unicorns.

Haul - Jessie's Girl, Oke Doke

While preparing for the next snow storm to hit,
I wandered into a local RiteAid and found some goodies!

Jessie's Girl New High Intensity Nail Color
I had literally just read about these yesterday over at
and I couldn't believe I'd gotten so lucky to find them so quickly!
She has the entire collection if you'd like to take a look.

So here is the display

There are a total of 18 shades, including one
named after the famed YouTuber, JulieG713

While the creams didn't scream "buy me",
the shimmers were to die for!

I choose 3 Glee, Firefly, and Confetti
and the 4th color I picked was
Midori, just cause I'm a sucker for a pretty Green.

Glee - This is a gorgeous Teal intense shimmer with a Gold undertone.
This is a real stunner,
and the pictures don't do it justice.
From what I hear, this is an exact dupe for
    Zoya's Charla
OPI's Catch Me In Your Net
and
Orly's Haley’s Comet

I don't have any of those colors to do a side
by side comparison,
but from what I have seen online,
I'd have to say yes, this is pretty spot on,
so if you missed out on those colors,
I definitely recommend grabbing this one.

Firefly - A dense Opal shimmer, this one is drool worthy.
It stands well on it's one, and can also be a top coat for any other color. Think Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasures, but with a much finer glitter.

Confetti - Another stunning color, in my opinion, the best of the lot.
This color is VERY similar to Rescue Beauty Lounge's Scrangie
Only this has a much more intense shimmer.
FREAKING GORGEOUS!

Midori - Bright summer pearl Green.
It's borderline neon, but not quite.
Not extremely unique, but like I said,
I'm a sucker for Green's and I just couldn't
seem to pass this one up.

This collection is amazing.
The application, was smooth and flawless.
With every coat, the color and shimmer intensifies.
This really is a appropriately named collection!
These retail for $ 2.99 each.

Right next to the Jessie's Girl Display was this one.

Hedy's Oke Doke Nail Color
Please forgive my crap-tastic photo on this display,
in all my excitement, clearly I didn't focus LOL

This was just a 6 polish collection,
and while the colors weren't extremely unique,
the names were really cute.

Purple Nurple
Camo Loco
Goldielocks
Hot Tomato
Steal This Teal
Pink This

I picked up 2

Camo Loco - a classic Olive Green shimmer. This color reminds me of B.B. Couture's Iced Olive. Super pretty.

Steal This Teal - This color is in the same family as
American Apparel's Peacock. That dusty blue/teal color, only
this has a slight Gold shimmer to it.
I'm very happy with this color and looking forward
to using it in a future design.

These were a little bit streaky,
but nothing another coat wouldn't cure.
They retail for $ 1.99 each

Lastly, I headed to Dollar Tree, to see if I could luck
out and find some Sally Hansen Prism polishes.
No luck on that.
But, I did find loads of L.A.Colors Art Deco nail strippers
that I grabbed for prizes to an upcoming contest
I'm going to be having on YT.

I also picked up this duo

Anti Freeze - Ha, what a great name.
This is a Blue toned-Opalescent glitter in a Green jelly.
This is definitely more of a top coat, rather than wear alone.

Arctic Violet -  A rich plum pearl with fine Silver shimmer.
On it's own, meh.
But topped with Anti-Freeze,
turns this color into almost something holographic.
Impressive for 1 buck.

Here it is unfocused. You can see how the light really grabs onto the blue-toned Opal glitter.

And here it is focused.
This is with 1 coat of Arctic Violet, with 1 coat of Anti-Freeze on top.

OH, before I forget, I want to thank everyone for their input
on the Lisa Frank mani this weekend.

Since everyone enjoyed it so much,
I decided to do a Lisa Frank series,
and the first tutorial will go up this Thursday,
so stay tuned!

I am off to go buckle things down and wait out this blizzard!
Be sure to stay warm!
